Marietta Fluoroscopy

Fluoroscopy is one of the many imaging devices our Marietta Chiropractors use to diagnose and treat accident injuries or chronic conditions. Our Marietta Chiropractors can develop a 3D motion picture of a particular condition by using x-ray beams that are transmitted to a monitor.
Some examples of how Fluoroscopy is induced include:

  • Through barium X-rays and enemas
  • Through a catheter insertion
  • Using stents
  • Using an Angiogram
  • Through Orthopedic Surgery

Why Do Chiropractors Use Fluoroscopy?

Our Marietta Chiropractors use Fluoroscopy as a diagnostic procedure or in conjunction with other diagnostic examinations like X-rays.
When using barium X-rays, fluoroscopy is used to provide clarity for how a patient’s intestines are responding to contrast dye. For patients that require cardiac catheterization, fluoroscopy is used to compliment the Chiropractor’s ability to identify the existence of arterial blockages. It can also be used to help our Marietta Chiropractors guide a catheter to its intended position.
Other common uses include:

  • Identifying foreign objects
  • Treating compression fractures within the spine
  • Diagnose diseases

What To Expect During A Procedure

Standard fluoroscopy procedures require the following actions and responses:

  • Remove all clothing and jewelry that may complicate or interfere with the examination – a gown will be given to you.
  • Administer contract dye via oral consumption or an intravenous injection. Depending on the circumstances, you may need to move the affected joint or area of your body for several minutes to ensure that the contract dye is evenly distributed.
  • Place yourself on an examination table and take on multiple positions while the procedure is performed.

After The Procedure

Once the fluoroscopy procedure is completed, your Marietta Chiropractor will review the test results and explain their findings to you, answering any questions you may have along the way.
From here, they will use the results to determine the most appropriate treatment plan for your injury or chronic condition.
