Marietta MRI Scans

The Chiropractors at AICA Marietta may recommend the use of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) device to diagnose an accident injury or a chronic condition. Our patients require MRI scans when they suffer from a chronic condition that doesn’t improve after a series of spinal adjustments or other treatment solutions

What Is An MRI?

MRIs of the body leverage magnetic fields, radio waves, and computer technology to develop in-depth images of an injury or chronic condition. They are often used to help our Marietta Chiropractors diagnose conditions, as well as to keep track of a patient’s recovery process, especially for conditions or injuries that affect the chest, pelvis, and stomach.

Why Do Chiropractors USE MRIs?

Our Marietta Chiropractors use MRIs to help review:

  • Chest organs such as the heart, biliary tract, liver, spleen, and pancreas
  • Pelvic organs like the bladder or ovaries
  • Blood vessels
  • Lymph nodes

MRIs are also used by our Marietta Chiropractors to diagnose and review chronic conditions like:

  • Tumors
  • Liver disease (cirrhosis)
  • Inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease)
  • Heart conditions
  • Inflammation

Details of A Typical MRI Procedure

When you visit AICA Marietta’s Chiropractic Clinic for an MRI scan, you will be asked to lay down on one of our examination tables. Your Chiropractor will help you remain in one position through the use of straps and bolsters – ensuring a clear reference to your condition is possible.
You may require the use of a contract dye to help your Chiropractors understand more about your injury, especially if there are micro aspects of your condition that can not be detected through other imaging devices.
Once the examination begins, you will be placed into the center of the MRI machine, while your Chiropractor and the radiologist follow through with the procedure from a remote location. Once everything is completed, your Chiropractor may ask you to wait until the results come back in case they need more images to determine the most appropriate treatment plan.
In most cases, MRI procedures are performed and completed within 60 minutes.
